BeatTheBookie is a free-to-play sports prediction game. Every dollar, bet, bonus and prize in the app is play money with no cash value. You cannot deposit, withdraw or win real money, and play money can't be exchanged for anything of real value.
What we collect
- Account: you sign in with Apple or create an account with an email address and password (players who started as guests before October 2026 keep an anonymous account with no personal details). With Sign in with Apple we receive an Apple user identifier and, only if you choose to share them, your name and email address (which may be an Apple private relay address). With an email account we store your email address so you can sign in and reset your password; your password is handled by Firebase Authentication and we never see it.
- Profile: the display name and username you choose, your avatar emoji and color, your favorite leagues, any promo or invite code you used, and, if you add one, a profile photo. Your display name, username and photo are visible to other players in your challenges, chats and leaderboards.
- Gameplay: your play-money bankrolls, bets, challenge memberships, rewards and login streak, so the game works and friends can see standings.
- Chat messages: messages you send in a challenge chat are stored and shown to the other members of that challenge. If you report a message or player, we keep the report and the content it refers to so we can review it.
- Notifications: if you allow notifications, we store your device's push notification token and your notification choices so we can tell you when your bets win, when someone posts in your challenge chat, and about your challenges (countdowns, a player going broke, results), delivered through Apple Push Notification service. A chat notification shows the sender's display name and the start of their message. You can turn each kind off in the app (Profile → Notifications) or turn all of them off in iOS Settings.
- App usage (first-party analytics): we record events such as which screens you open and what you tap (for example adding a pick to your slip, opening a chest or sharing an invite), along with your device model, iOS version and app version. These events are stored in our own database, used only to understand and improve the app, never sold, and never shared with ad networks.
- Live presence: while the app is open, it periodically updates a presence record with your display name, username, the challenge you're viewing, your play-money bankroll and open bet count, the screen you're on, whether you're a guest, and your device model and app version. This lets us see how many people are playing right now and helps us support players. It is visible only to the app's owner.
- Purchases: Apple processes all payments. We only receive a transaction identifier so we can deliver what you bought. We never see your payment details. Purchases unlock in-game items or remove ads; they never buy real-money value.
- Advertising: the free version shows ads from Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers (including the advertising identifier, only if you allow tracking when asked), coarse location from your IP address, ad interactions and diagnostics. Where the law requires, we ask for your consent first, and you can change your choice any time in Profile.
- Advertising on the website: the website version shows ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites, and collect your IP address, browser details and ad interactions. Where the law requires, you'll be asked for consent first. You can turn off personalized ads at Google's Ad Settings or opt out of third-party vendors at aboutads.info. Players with Ad-Free see no ads on the website either.
How we use it
To run your account and the game, show your profile and standings to the players in your challenges, run challenge chat and moderate reports, send the notifications you asked for, deliver purchases and rewards, show and measure ads in the free version, understand how the app is used, and keep the service secure. When a new player finishes setting up a profile, the app's owner receives a private alert (via Telegram) with that player's display name, username, sign-up method, favorite leagues and any invite code used. We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
- Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) stores your account, profile, photo, chat, analytics and game data. Firebase App Check uses Apple's App Attest and DeviceCheck to confirm requests come from the genuine app; it doesn't identify you personally.
- Google AdSense serves ads on the website. Google AdMob serves ads in the free version of the app. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
- Apple handles Sign in with Apple, push notifications and in-app purchases.
- Telegram carries the owner's private new-player alert described above. Nothing is posted publicly.
- Other players in your challenges see your display name, username, avatar or photo, chat messages and, depending on that challenge's privacy setting, your rank, bets and final results. Public leaderboards show your display name and play-money results.
Game odds and scores come from public sports data. No personal information is sent to those sources.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while you have an account. You can delete your account at any time in the app: Profile → Delete account. This removes your profile, photo and solo challenges and signs you out of Sign in with Apple or your email account. In challenges shared with friends, your past entries and messages stay so their results remain intact, but your name is replaced with "Deleted player". Analytics events and presence records are kept only as long as needed to run and improve the app.
Children
BeatTheBookie is for adults 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if we learn we have, we delete that account and its data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your information, or to object to some uses. Contact us and we'll help.
